An effective teacher provides an environment where even the most challenging material feels approachable and in the end becomes a valuable asset.
Together as students and teachers we make the connections that form the middle path between science tradition.
My best moments in class are the ones where students find a home in themselves for the knowledge they have been learning.
My goal is to do this in a way that is driven by joy and an excitement for the material we are learning together.
COMING SOON: The Chemistry you wanted to learn in Chinese medical school.
Oftentimes the chemistry that is taught in Chinese medical school is abbreviated and lacks the context and relevance it deserves. As TCM practitioners we engage in chemistry with each herbal preparation we create. In this course we cover the essentials of molecular structure, organic chemistry, concentration, dilutions and other topics as they directly relate to clinical practice. You will know how to accurately dose all formulas regardless of the original source text or herbal preparation after we go through it together. You will be able to assess the ingredients of both topical and internal formulations as to understand at a chemical level what role each constituent plays.
COMING SOON: The Elements of Anxiety
Anxiety is the valuable protector that has needed to work overtime in our modern, challenge rich environment. In this course we examine chemical and biological mechanisms that are understood to drive the anxiety mechanism. In addition, we will look at the Chinese medical model and why traditional patterns used to describe anxiety don't offer a complete picture in our contemporary lives. In depth discussions of herbal medicines, supplements, cannabis, psychedelics, foods and pharmaceutical medications will drive the core of this class.
COMING SOON: The Electronic Nature of Qi.
Perhaps one of the most common questions asked of anyone who is familiar with the concept of Qi is: What is it? Physics has been asking the same questions that Eastern philosophy and mysticism has been asking for millennia and they are simply speaking about the same topics in different languages. In this course we will look at the common ground between Qi and the electron. How Qi fits into aerobic (and anaerobic respiration), neural communication and muscle contraction. We will delve into why understanding the electron nature of Qi can elevate the argument for what Chinese medicine can do. We will also explore why the concept of Qi is actually quite practical, down to earth and why the electron is the key to it all.
These courses are approved continuing education by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Enhance your practice and ensure your diplomate requirements are met with classes that discuss topics that are far from typical.
