Psychedelic medicines are quickly becoming a part of the national medical conversation. The therapeutic potential of these ancient herbs and modern compounds is both exciting and mysterious. This course takes a science-forward deep dive into psychedelic compounds, as well as the current understanding of how they influence and exert their effects on the nervous system. We’ll examine where psychedelic compounds can be found in nature and how they compare to synthetics. The primary purpose of this course is to provide a seamless integration of a robust science-based discussion regarding psychedelics that will inform and enable the east Asian medical practitioner. Clinicians leaving this course will feel confident discussing the mechanisms of how and why psychedelic medicines are a relevant and powerful medicinal tool, that is well suited to the practice and practitioner of east Asian medicine.
